2008 City Elections

The August 26 elections in Huntsville and Madison are extremely important to the progress of our community. The Committee of 100/BizPac has been working for more than a year to recruit and train qualified candidates, interview and contribute to candidates, and engage more citizens, especially young professionals in the election process.

Our election-year activities include:

  • Political Training Institute in October-November 2007
  • Rock the Vote 08 Event on April 17, 2008 at the Depot Roundhouse - about 300 young professionals met local candidates
  • Huntsville/Madison Mayoral Debate on August 12, 2008, 6:30 - 8 p.m., televised live on News Channel 19 and broadcast at Monaco Theater, Prive I. Reception with candidates for Mayor, City Council and Board of Education from 8 - 9:30 p.m.

Key election dates are:

  • General Election - November 4, 2008

The 14 members of the BizPac Board invited all candidates in the August 26 elections in Huntsville and Madison to an interview in June - July 2008 and interviewed Madison County Commission candidates in the spring and fall. Committee of 100/BizPac members were also invited to respond to a written survey on all candidates.
