Huntsville City Schools Seeking Volunteers for Professional Development Poverty Simulation

With a donation from the Creative Cities Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Huntsville Committee of 100, Huntsville City schools will be hosting a series of Poverty Simulation training for their teachers and administrators.  These professional development sessions use a hands-on experience to simulate one month of poverty for participants. Huntsville City Schools is excited to offer this opportunity to build awareness and empathy for students living in poverty.

In order to facilitate the poverty simulation, they will need 24 volunteers for each half day training.  Volunteers will receive a brief training before the session begins. The Huntsville Committee of 100 is working in multiple ways to partner throughout the community to improve education for all students, a tenet of the group’s mission.  The Creative Cities Fund mission is to create a culture of innovation in economic development and public education and they are honored to partner with the system for lasting change in local schools. On October 24, 2018, the Creative Cities Fund will host it’s annual luncheon, with this years focus being on culture change in education. For more information visit Creative Cities.
